Parenting. The one and only thing we can all safely say changed our lives 100 times over. Parenting is the most rewarding job with the biggest range of emotions and challenges you will ever come to face and experience. Parenting. What does it mean to you? When you really think about it, how has it changed you? How has it become the biggest single thing to ever happen to you?
Finlay and Jacob, my two beautiful, clever & hilarious boys. Where would my life be without you both? Without the constant and overwhelming happiness you bring to both mine and daddys life? You two have definitely captured our heart and souls that’s for sure.
We have done so many long car journeys with the kids. We tend to go down to devon twice a year for a holiday and we’ve visited my sister in law numerous times down in Plymouth too so long car journeys are no new thing for us. From where we live to Devon/Plymouth is around 6 hours which we can seem to manage (although when we get there me and Jack resemble some sort of character out of the living dead) with just one stop about 4 hours into the journey before the kiddies begin to get restless (we all start screaming at eachother). At first it was really daunting thinking about how to keep two children under 3 amused during the journey, constantly thinking we would need to make a million stops totalling 10 hours and two parents who have completely lost their sh*t by this time. However we always get there pretty smoothly and with both children still alive and well!
For 4 days now my littlest has been cursed with the dreaded lurgy, his tonsils are the main culprit, and its been rough, really really rough. For days now I have been the nurse dishing out medication to a patient who is so reluctant and will do anything to make sure I don’t get the buggers into his mouth, the frantic parent taking the temperature every couple of hours praying for it to be decreasing, the worrisome mother whose desperate to get her child to drink, anything & something, in a desperate bid for my poor baby to get some form of relief, to start to smile & be my happy baby again.
