How We Prepare For A Long Car Journey

We have done so many long car journeys with the kids. We tend to go down to devon twice a year for a holiday and we’ve visited my sister in law numerous times down in Plymouth too so long car journeys are no new thing for us. From where we live to Devon/Plymouth is around 6 hours which we can seem to manage (although when we get there me and Jack resemble some sort of character out of the living dead) with just one stop about 4 hours into the journey before the kiddies begin to get restless (we all start screaming at eachother). At first it was really daunting thinking about how to keep two children under 3 amused during the journey, constantly thinking we would need to make a million stops totalling 10 hours and two parents who have completely lost their sh*t by this time. However we always get there pretty smoothly and with both children still alive and well!

Being A Parent Is Hard

For 4 days now my littlest has been cursed with the dreaded lurgy, his tonsils are the main culprit, and its been rough, really really rough. For days now I have been the nurse dishing out medication to a patient who is so reluctant and will do anything to make sure I don’t get the buggers into his mouth, the frantic parent taking the temperature every couple of hours praying for it to be decreasing, the worrisome mother whose desperate to get her child to drink, anything & something, in a desperate bid for my poor baby to get some form of relief, to start to smile & be my happy baby again.

Letting Them Be Little

It’s so easy in the blur of the days, weeks, months and years, to forget what is really the most important thing in that moment. It’s so easy to get caught up in our daily lives of cleaning, washing, cooking, and general parenting to remember what are the most important things about our children, its so easy to forget or not get time to make the most out of every single second with these little lives we have been so blessed with.
